Happy Fright Night Y'all!

BOO! Hey everyone!!

Did I get you?

Well Happy fright night to you all(y'all)!  I unfortunately do not get to go out and about to night getting candy, but I am always dressed up so I have that going for me! right?  Well we were knocking doors this past week and there are some really cool decorations out.  One house we came to was all decked out with webs in the trees and zombies coming out of the ground.  There was just not any mercy and the whole yard was covered in ghoulish stuff.  Well like I said we were knocking and so we knocked this door.  We thought we had a great conversation starter about their decorations.  Well we knocked once, twice, three times and no answer.  We thought hmm that is weird there is a car in the driveway and we are pretty sure that we can hear the TV on inside.  Well we decide to take the hint and take a hike.  We just stepped on to the sidewalk and  we heard the door creek open.  We turn around to see an old man pointing his cane and screeching it is not Halloween yet and that he will not give any candy away until the 31st.  We, of course, chuckled a little that he thought we were trying to trick or treat early and that we had our "costumes" on.  As we started to try and correct his misconception he slammed the door defiantly.  Moral of the story:  missionaries are actually 18-26 year old's who don't want to grow up and still want to trick or treat and dress up all year round.  No this is not true!

We are representatives of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.  We have been called by a prophet of God to share what we know to be true.  We have been set apart to teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Last but not least we invite all men everywhere to come unto Christ through Faith, Repentance, Baptism and receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost, and Enduring to the End.

This past week we were working out in a small country town in the bottom of our area.  We had been there since noon and we were both getting hungry but we were finding people to teach and we still had others to visit.  We were behind schedule on what we had planned to do but I know we were doing what the Lord had planned for us.  It was late in the evening and food was starting to press on our minds. This was  a distraction and making it harder to want to stay and see the people we still hadn't.  Well we made it worse and started talking about food.  Then we caught a most scrumptious smell of wings, ribs, and sausages on the grill. Elder Smith asked me how often we get true southern BBQ.  I answered with the honest reply of not to often really.  Just as we turned to corner to our investigators home they were the ones Grilling out!  They invited us in and offered us food and we were filled both physically and missionaryilly. Physically through the delicious BBQ that we were fed and missionarilly by it being a family BBQ and we got a few new investigators from their interest of what we were teaching their momma.

Mom: oh yes that is new news.  I hope the trunk or treat went well the one for our ward here was good. It was of course small as church gatherings are here but good none the less.  Nope I am going to rough this winter out I think without a shot! How was the show with the new person? yeah it is amazing to me how many missionaries and people we see do not think. They just never where taught. Yes in South Carolina in one of the counties there are graduates of High school who they allow through without being able to even read! whoop whoop look at you run! Aunt T emailed and said you are an animal! we know some of the same people.  um he is fine?  I can get along fine with him when it is just us but any time there is others around members, missionaries, or even investigators he tries to over do it and it gets on peoples nerves and I have been approached about it and had to confront him about it already so that is hard.  no I was ready for him to go! if I had to stay another transfer with him I might have cried.  even president knows how bad he is and sent me a long email last week thanking me for trying my best and being nice to him.  haha I just make friends really easy is all!:P Love you mom!

Tay: I only went to a ward trunk or treat and then we were invited to a ward members haunted house to help out on friday and in ate like 3 candies in all!  did you get lots of meet? Love you bro!

Dad: So you still get to do some travelling in your new position?  and yeah that would be sweet to get another cool thing from over there.  Everyone always says that I have a story for everyone of my ties and it is kinda true. I came out with I think 9 or so and now I have 40 something and all I have been given so it is pretty sweet! yes we will be on lock down it stinks but oh well we will watch some pros videos and play some dominos and farkle and bake cookies or something? Love you dad!

Tali: your costume looks great girl!!! and wow your hair is long!!!! stay clear here come the sugar rushed Talia Legg huh? wow you are going to have candy for days! Love you sis!

Elder Smith

Hello Everyone!

Still in the same place.

Well my greenie is Elder Smith.  He is from Star, Idaho.  That is about 6 miles from Middleton where I live.  We did not know each other before we came out, however, we did know of each other.  We actually went to the same high school for a year.  Crazy small world out there!  He is into cars and mountain biking.  He is a pretty fun guy and we are working hard!  I love having the opportunity to train him though because I get to go back through and "teach" (more like relearn) the new missionary 12 week program.  So I get to go back to the basics and and build my self back up even stronger then before!  Plus having to be a even greater example to start someones mission off on the right foot pushes me to try harder each day and never be content.  To analyze myself and make sure I am making the good, better, BEST decisions.

Yesterday I was welcoming people to sacrament meeting and one of the counselors approached me and asked me to share my testimony over the pulpit since a youth speaker had backed out or called in sick.  I had always heard that this happened to missionaries but, that is all.  I guess I was just in the right place at the right time.  I got up and shared my testimony.  If you know me I like to have things prepared when I get to give talks or anything of that sort.  Being put on the spot I tried to prepare quickly.  I read some scriptures and prayed and pondered what to say. I got up and shared my testimony. Once I got down I wondered if The message I wanted to convey was even received? After my trying to listen to the spirit it, to me, sounded more like babbling.  In complete honesty I had felt I had let the member of the bishopric, who had asked me to speak, down. Well that evening, we were actually scheduled to eat at His house for dinner.  Feeling the way I did, and having a new missionary, (so it's good practice to spring things on them) I told him to share the spiritual thought as we walked in.  We ate and he shared his thought and then the member, as if knowing I questioned my effectiveness on touching anyone earlier, asked me why I bore my testimony on the topic I had?  I told him it had come up in my studies that morning and peaked my interest.  He then preceded to share with me that if it touched no one else it touched him!  That for some reason when scrambling to find some one to ask to speak my name popped in his head.  He followed that prompting and within my testimony it gave him comfort and guidance in his heart as he had been questioning an aspect of his life.  This experience testified to me and I testify to all of those who read this that the Lord hears and answers.  That the spirit of God is the teacher of truth in all things and that our Lord and Savior knows what we all as individuals need and when!

Mom: yeah I am the district leader still and training. being a district leader and trainer happens a good amount because if you are trusted to be a DL than President can usually trust you to train? mostly!  that is nice! we are encouraged to go and get them BUT I probably will not and hope and pray I do not get sick! (flu shots) I am getting woozy reading about your shots!  I got the package from Carilyn today!  I dont like skyview! haha she does know that eventually she will grow and I do not want to have to grow with her to stay 100lbs more her whole life!:p (Tali was mad he lost weight because when he left they were 100 lbs apart and she liked it that way)It hit the low 90's here this last week but also the last 2 days have been cool in the low 70's so I do not know what the weather will be like? Love you mom!!

Dad: yes Go BSU!!!  looks like the hunt was quite successful!!! and did you really get a deer or is that just you with one of the other deer heads in our front yard?  that sounds like a great weekend to me!!! where was jace called?

G4: I am glad that you are a surviver this week of shots, 1st quarters, and movie liking!!!!:)  my new companion is alergic to cats and that is sad because there are a lot of cats in the south!  poor Jo. Love you girl!

Tali: mmmm donuts that sounds yummy I haven't had any of those in a good while!!!:p  oh holy cow I keep forgetting you are in middle school now that is weird! tell you what I will stop losing weight if you stop getting bigger! deal? ok Love you sis!

Tay: yeah that sucks about skyview!  you are looking quite fine bro if only your hair matched your smile!:p  sounds like the hunt was pretty good!  and nope first buck will always be my first year of hunting it was buck jr.  back off my title boy!:p  in all honesty I will miss not going to the webers to cut up the deer.  and make sure mom sends me videos of the concert ok!? and good luck man!!! love you!

Love you all!

Moving on...

Getting Fat??? I Came Out at 173!! (pics)

Hey Everyone!

Well I am getting a new companion, and not just any companion, but a fresh off the plane one! Yes, I will be training a new missionary now. I will get him tomorrow morning and have a member send yall pictures of us! We had to go to Macon for a meeting on how to train and so we had a nice road trip early on Saturday! (The picture in the mission home in the previous post)

We had a stake fall festival this past week that all of the missionaries were invited to and we all got to do booths.  (pic on previous post) Our district did a plan of salvation bean bag toss.  Also I was selected to be a chilli taste testing judge.  One of the chillis had 2 Carolina Reapers and some other hot pepper cooked into it.  It was ok though, it was not nearly as hot and terrible once it has been cooked.  Because I survived that without any repercussions.  It was really fun everyone had a blast and lots of investigators and less actives showed up.

At church we have been visiting a less active lady for about 3 weeks now and I always though you know she will come back she just needs some time.  She actually was able to make it to the Festival and we saw her a talked and we told her we would not be making it out to her house on Sunday to see them because we would be in Columbus. She replyed that is ok I will just see you at church then!?  The best part is she actually meant what she said and came to church!

Mom:  That stinks about soccer.  I am glad Taylor's braces and your root canal went well. Haha yes I try to get people to send lots of pics to you and most are more then willing. (I told him he must give my phone number to everyone he meets because I get texts from all kinds of different numbers/people) I met Bill's sister again at the  festival.  I think she was going to try and feed us this week!  I want Costa Vida. They have Chipotle here and I had some on Thursday but they don't smother their burritos and I had a salad anyways.  I wear a jacket inside because we keep the trailer cold in the mornins and nights because it is worth it for the afternoons. But I have never worn my large jacket and actually left it in a past area because of it to save room.  And it will get to freezing here at night in about another month or so?  So I wear a small jacket in the mornings and evenings. Not right now, but back in February and some of March. Love you mom!

Tay: dude you look good man and what is this I hear about you doing a man bun but no pictures of it?  good luck hunting and that stinks about soccer man! random question: how much do you weigh? (This was the question that started the brotherly trash talking/emailing) I weighed 152 this morning.  Love you!
From Taylor:  Holy Cow Dude you're getting fat!!
Ty:  Getting Fat??? I came out at 173!!
Tay: Mom says that's wonderful, but I say you don't wanna lose to much weight cuz I'll take you down when u get home!!
Ty: Whatever!:p

Dad: how long have you been in there? you were able to be in priest Q. for a little bit of travs tays and my years in there!  haha that is really funny about the mexican blaket and I would totally agree with him.  we went disc golfing this morning in a wilderness park and we saw some deer a mom and her two babies.  Hunting here is sitting in a tree stand for hours.  people down here are huge in turkey and wild hog hunting though!  good luck this week end! yeah I am having a good time here.  something other missionaries have told me I making investigators and just anyone around me feel comfortable.  That makes me happy because I feel like I am just awkward all the time!:p Love you dad!

Tali: oh you will make the cutest little purple vampress!!! pepper spray that is dangerous!! Love you!

G4: ahh pumpkin carving!!! I was knocking on a door this last week and I think there was a rotting pumpkin from last years halloween! it smelled gross!

Love you all
